Barnes-Jewish Hospital maternal-fetal medicine specialists provide a broad range of services to care for patients with nearly any pregnancy difficulty. You may only come for a one-time evaluation, or be periodically evaluated during pregnancy, or we may be part of your entire pregnancy. We're dedicated to providing you with the best care and access to as much information as possible.

Whether you're coming from two miles away or 200 miles away, we'll make your care as streamlined and stress-free as possible. With a perinatal nurse coordinator to assist you, we'll walk you through everything step by step so you know what to expect.

Through our outreach coordinator, you'll have a streamlined source to coordinate appointments with various specialists as necessary. Whenever possible, we'll schedule your appointments all on one day. Our perinatal outreach coordinator also will help you and your family navigate our facility, and communicate our recommendations directly to your physician's office in a timely manner.

If your physician has determined there is a problem with your pregnancy that can affect your baby, you will meet with a neonatologist and possibly other specialists at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. We will guide you through the process.

We have social workers here and at St. Louis Children's Hospital, as well as a chaplain. Our compassionate, experienced staff provides professional expertise and care to help families cope with the psychological, financial, social and emotional needs that impact the high-risk pregnancy and newborn period. We'll also help arrange housing, if necessary.

Our specialists will continue to care for you in the immediate post-partum period. Working with expert nursing teams at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, they will assess your health after your delivery. If your high-risk condition requires additional medical care, our physicians will refer you to the appropriate specialists for follow-up and additional treatment, as needed.

Ask your physician for a referral to a Barnes-Jewish Hospital maternal-fetal specialist. Upon referral, we will gather the appropriate records from your physician.
