FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who should go to the Injury Clinic?

The Injury Clinic sees patients ages 5 and older. Our extended hours benefit little leaguers, working parents and weekend warriors. If you have an orthopedic issue, such as a sprain, strain, fracture, or an orthopedic pain that just won't go away, we are here to help you.

Should I go to the Orthopedic Injury Clinic to be evaluated if I think I have a concussion?

While our practice does specialize in concussions, we are unable to evaluate patients with concussions at our Orthopedic Injury Clinic. If you suspect that you have a concussion, we advise that you call to schedule an appointment with a sports medicine specialist by calling 314.514.3500.

Why should I come to the Injury Clinic vs. an Urgent Care Center or Emergency Room?

  • Save time. A typical visit to the Injury Clinic will be much quicker than a visit to the emergency room or urgent care center. If casting, splinting or imagining is required, we can take care of it during your appointment.
  • See a specialist. You will be seen by an orthopedic specialist at our location. If follow up care is required, it will be scheduled before you leave. No need to call around the next day to find someone to see you.
  • Save money. The co-payment at the Injury Clinic is the same as a specialty physician office visit. This is a less expensive option than a trip to the emergency room. While Washington University participates with most medical plans, please call the number on the back of your insurance card to verify your coverage.

What can I do to prepare for my visit?

In an effort to minimize wait time and to expedite your visit, please fill out these patient forms in advance and present them at check-in.

‚ÄčIs there a charge for parking?

No, parking is free.

What if someone has suffered a life-threatening injury?

The Washington University Orthopedic Injury Clinic is not an emergency care provider or a substitute for emergency care. If there is any indication that you've suffered a serious or life-threatening injury, call 911 or go to an emergency room immediately.

Who should I call if I have questions regarding the Injury Clinic?

Please call 314.514.1642
