Forest Park/Kingshighway Intersection Construction Update

Beginning December 5, 2016, construction will begin at the intersection of Forest Park Parkway and Kingshighway Boulevard in order to create a traditional intersection. Please keep the following in mind when visiting the hospital:

  • The greatest impact is on Forest Park Parkway west of Kingshighway, which is closed to through traffic, through Union Avenue.
  • North-south lanes on Kingshighway will remain open
  • Limited north/south Kingshighway lane closures will occur during overnight hours
  • East/west lanes on Forest Park Parkway between Kingshighway and Euclid will be limited to one lane in each direction

The project is expected to be complete in approximately eight months, in July 2017.

For more information about the project and the answers to frequently asked questions, please visit the BJC Construction website.

Starting July 6, 2015, the Kingshighway bridge, between Southwest Avenue and Shaw Boulevard, will be closed for an 18-month construction project. All traffic is being rerouted to follow a detour. Patients who use this route should plan for extra travel time. Patients should also be aware of the impacts noted above regarding the intersection of Forest Park Parkway and Kingshighway Boulevard.

MetroBus detours and route updates

Starting July 7, 2014, Parkview Place at Kingshighway will close for approximately 2 years during construction of the new north campus inpatient building and the St. Louis Children's Hospital expansion. During this time, patients and visitors traveling on Kingshighway will detour to Forest Park Avenue to access the north garage on Euclid and valet/drop off at the Center for Advanced Medicine.
